I received a gift with a gift receipt attached. I already had the exact same thing and didn't wish to exchange it for anything in the store. I just wanted the amount of cash the gift cost. I was told that I had to get something in the store because it was a gift receipt not the ""original"" receipt. Isn't that the purpose of gift receipt-- to use in place of the regular receipt? I asked why that would make a difference, the gift was purchased from their inventory. She said ""Well, we wouldn't know if the person paid cash for it or used a credit card"".
