21st Amendment (affectionately known by locals as "21A") offers good food, reasonable prices and a generally friendly atmosphere. This large bar/restaurant is a popular after-work destination; needless to say, it can get pretty crowded when the whistle blows, especially on Fridays. If the front is too packed to get a seat, try heading to the upstairs seating area, which is a great place to grab...
Order a South Park Blonde and you'll be happy. This place is better than Gordon Biersch and San Francisco Brewing Company. The food (burgers, fish/chips) is excellent as well. As somebody who drinks a hell of a lot in the Market Street and South of Market areas, this place is worth making a trip to.
The Scene
A large semicircular bar dominates the front space of this restaurant. Behind it, a seating area featuring wooden booths, high ceilings and an open kitchen creates a warm,...
Located on 2nd St in San Francisco just a short walk under I-80 from the Moscone Convention Center, 21st Amendment by all appearance is very reminiscent of an unassuming, neighborhood Bar & Grill. The decor bespeaks a repurposed building with lots of exposed wood and masonry and utilitarian, weatherbeaten looking furniture; the staff is welcoming and attentive.
I visited on a Sunday afternoon...
Good vibe, got there just before lunch and was hopping by 12:15. The food was good pub fare. The neers pn tap were great, the coco nutz was very good. The hefeweizen was very good also. My beef is that with all their beers they could have had a much bigger tap list.
i tried many of the choices they had, but walked away loving their Gigantes, even though I'm not a big pale ale fan. The flavor was amazing, and really drinkable.
this was kind of a random stop, but im so glad it happened. i have been enjoying their beer for years and marveling at their recent success and need to brew elsewhere. this is their somewhat humble beginnings, a smallish storefront from the street opens into a relatively expansive high ceilinged place, with the bar right in front, a small patio off the the side, and a lofted dining area above...
I visited 21st Amendment while in town for work. Of course I am familiar with all of their widely-distributed beers, but it was cool to come visit the mothership, as it were. It's an old school pub build-out with a couple of TVs on the wall; it's very lived-in, which I like a lot. They had 9 beers on tap plus 6 canned 21A offerings. The beers I tried were solid enough; I rarely have too many...
