In the context of square Seattle, Zeitgeist seems almost obscenely stylish. Even the ATM machine has been aestheticized; it sits cuddled inside a custom-made warm wood shell because, c'mon, an everyday dull gray cash machine would clash garishly with the art on display. My favorite downtown coffee shop. 20' ceilings with exposed joists and beams from trees the old timers talk about. Great big windows to let in the light and street scene. Always interesting art on the walls and eclectic music on the stereo. If Edward Hopper were to paint a quintessential turn of the century independent coffee house today it would be the Zeitgeist.
