It's a little overpriced for the food in my opinion.

It's a little overpriced for the food in my opinion. I grew up in the middle east and you would assume that a restaurant with these prices would have some comparable food. Not the case in this case. I'd suggest going elsewhere for arabic food. It was way more about the atmosphere than the food.

Zaytinya Restaurant Review

Zaytinya takes its name from the Turkish word for olive oil, perhaps because there is no Middle Eastern word for melting pot, which is a better descriptor given the variety of meze on the menu. The array of small dishes from the kitchen of noted chef José Andrés includes bites from the cultures of Greece, Lebanon and Turkey. The meze create the drama and the happy guests create the buzz that...

Hi readers!

As I am sure many of you are aware, the northeastern States have endured quite a few battles with Mother Nature this summer – including some blistering hot heat waves, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake, and Hurricane Irene. Fortunate for me, I was only around for one of those events and managed to get safely in and out of the nation’s capital, and enjoyed some good eating along the way....

Executive chef José Andrés and his creative business partners (in Jaleo and other restaurants) continue to infatuate Washingtonians with tapas-style dining. Zaytinya features Eastern Mediterranean cuisine such as hummus, beef-stuffed pasta with roasted garlic-yogurt and paprika butter, and ground lamb-stuffed pita with tahini sauce. Settle in and enjoy Zaytinya’s Mediterranean-style tapas — you...

The only comment is that after making a reservation and arriving 10 minutes before, we had to wait almost 20+ minutes more before we were seated.

We are long time fans of the owner's (chef José Andrés) other restaurants Jaleo and Oyamel and our first visit to Zaytinya did not disapoint. I might even go so far as to say it is the best I have had from him; I especially recommend the lamb tongue souvlaki, brussel sprouts and apricot greek yogurt parfait dessert. Service was also excellent; our server was both friendly and happy to talk...
