This ain't a gym for poor people. From the owners of Sound-Bar comes this upscale European-style lounge with excellent sound system, deejays, and sexy, sexy, sexy staff. It's closed Sundays to Wednesdays, it's $20 to get in and $200+ bottle service is de rigueur. It also has a vicious door policy, though this doesn't seem to stop the sameness of the tight-unbuttoned-shirt/"Night at the Roxbury"...

This open, yet intimate, lounge is fitted with brown columns, red curtains, gold-toned walls, exotic wood panels and suspended clear-acrylic speaker enclosures. Three...
We paid $80 in cover charges and the door man didn't make us aware that they were no longer serving drinks. We then dropped another $70 on warm Jagerbombs (they said we could only buy shots). When I went outside to express my frustration with paying $80 to get in a bar that was no longer serving drinks, the bouncer asked me ""Are you the one from Georgia?"" I said yes, to which he responded ""You should go back there, no one likes a complainer""..and I don't like being taken advantage of, so I will NOT EVER be back to Y Bar.
Loved this place. This place has excellent staff and service. The bar staff was amazingly generous with the drinks. The interior was very nice as well.
Okay.... there's no line to get in because the place is LAME. All attitude with NO cool to back it up. Overcharging the men to get in ($20) and hardly anyone was inside. How boring was it? I'm writing this from Lakeview at 11:30 on Friday night having already left there. Don't waste your time or money on this place; all snob and no cool. No service and bad drinks. I could get drunk faster taking a dose of NyQuil for a head cold. If this place were the example of nightlife in Chicago, I'd move to the middle of nowhere for more entertainment and excitement. A one-star rating is too...
A few girlfriends and I went to Y Bar on a Friday night and was quite disappointed. The door men charged all of us ladies $20 to get in and there was no line outside! It never got packed all night and not a fun crowd.
Pros
+ No line outside
Cons
- Not a fun crowd
...are what decribes this place. Nice atmosphere and people to match.

A "classy", not-oversized club in River North, this Wednesday–Saturday house-music hub gets props for "excellent" dancing and a "cool atmosphere" embellished with seasonal video installations; with its hefty cover and "VIP" trappings (including top-tier champagne), it can add up to an "expensive" night on the town; P.S. jeans are a no-go for men; reserve ahead for tables on weekends.
A minimalist decor underscored by sepia tones and leather accents paves the way for this upscale spot. An extravagant private VIP room features a bar service window and furniture that can be rearranged to suit your party. Y Bar is open Tues-Sat. -

I went for the first time to Y, this past weekend on Friday. I really enjoyed the ambiance, the crowd was great and the...
Runway-worthy fashionistas, both male and female, strut their stuff at this nightspot that corners the market on high concept. Service is VIP-worthy, and champagne and top-shelf liquors reign supreme. Subdued musical tracks and comfortably couched seating areas allow intimate conversation, and plasma screens display custom video (like fireplaces) to warm things up. For patrons who prefer to...
Look Good: Reserve the private room: It has windows for service from both bars, and furniture can be arranged to accommodate large or small groups.
Save Money: There's no cover when a party reserves a table in advance, but you must order from the bottle-service menu, one bottle required for every four people.
Where to Sit: The J-shaped leatherette lounge up front requires no reservation and affords the best people-watching and convenient bar access.
