This is America's answer to the British Pub. Unpretentious and unassuming, this local hangout offers only what you need with nothing over the top. The tin ceiling and wooden furniture give the place an old-world feel, but the sound-system and televisions bring it up to date. There is a variety of beers on tap, including the infamous Guiness, with standard pub fare available as well. Even though... more

Gothamites may be slowly but surely losing their historic neighborhood taverns, but as long as the doors stay open at Walker's, a slice of Tribeca’s grittier past will remain. These days, the haunt plays host to a steady lunch and after-work clientele who drink and dine at the well-worn bar or at the paper-covered tables crowding the slightly cramped front room. Years of late nights (and... more

In Short A polished wood bar supports the elbows and pints of neighborhood regulars stopping in for a quick bite, while more serious diners take seats to enjoy dishes like roast chicken with mashed potatoes, "cowboy" chili topped with cheddar and onions, generous cobb and Caesar salads, hamburgers and various sandwiches. Up front, the regulars sit around the bar, watching the game and chatting. At the tables, you'll find families, shoppers, singles - just about... more

Walker's first appears to be a tiny, dark neighborhood bar. The entry room is just that. You can go into another room past the bar for more tables. The space is small but sometimes they have live music and the food is very good comfort food. They have quesadillas and other specials but most people swear by the burgers and chopped steak and mashed potatoes.

Good food, good wine at reasonable prices with really friendly service thrown in. What more can you ask? Sure it's not the best food in the City, but then you're not paying for it either. Just a fun friendly place to go with friends. Wish there were more like it.
