Has anyone else done something like this—three Italian restaurants on three floors, moving upward from most expensive to least? This tower of dining—the Italian Village—is a Chicago landmark. It opened in 1927, but while the top floor dates to this era (making it Chicago’s oldest Italian restaurant), the ground floor has changed over the years. Since 1994, Vivere has been the Italian Village’s...
Deemed the Italian Village's "fanciest" option, this Loop entry offers a "festive" baroque gold and velvet-trimmed dining room as a backdrop for "upscale", "quality" fare and a "comprehensive" wine list delivered by an "excellent" staff; true, it's "a little expensive", but then that's the price of "the good life."
Vivere Restaurant Review: There is eating, and then there is fine dining. Vivere offers the latter, in wood-trimmed surroundings no less. The Capitanini family has been operating the Italian Village restaurants since 1927, so expect nothing but the best. What we particularly like is that the kitchen is not afraid to trot out a range of ideas, from a complex cannelloni di manzo (Wagyu short...

All swirly reds and golds, with hanging light fixtures and trippy copper sculptures, stylish Vivere is the mod, slightly rebellious youngster among the three Italian Village... Pros + artful Italianperfect for pre-theatre Cons - can be inconsistent
Great food and service!
We chose it because it was close to the theatre. The food was average. The service was excellent, and we had no trouble getting to the theatre on time. We both had spaghetti and it was ok but not what we expected it to be. The dessert was totally fabulous.
We loved it! Wonderful dinner and attentive service
Excellent choice to dine before the theater. Service was incredible and food was delicious. Valet Parked the car and left it during the show. Perfect start to an incredible evening.
We decided the Italian Village was the perfect location prior to going to the theater for a matinee performance on a Wednesday. It happened to be during Chicago Restaurant Week and I decided that was the way to go. I have the Arancini with greens, Tiger Prawns with kale and polenta, and the Creme Brulee. It was a magnificent feast! The staff was very attentive and even the chef came to our...
