I'd go again as it is not possible to take it all in. Pictures, old kitchen tools, advertisements, and tidbits about how they use to live-its all there. Allow plenty of time.

Well preserved,meticulously maintained collection of Island history. I particularly enjoyed the photographic history of the Island from it 's granite quarrying days to present day. The civil war photos of Islanders who participated was haunting. There is certainly something for everyone housed within the old Vinalhaven Town Hall.

Every once in a while, we discover hidden treasures. The little museum done by the Historical Society is an amazing place. I have spent hours in it, looking at all the *stuff* and going through documents. It is intimate, fun and the staff are incredibly helpful
