Vin Noir is gorgeous, romantic, all that good stuff, but the service was really horrible. The bartender was ridiculously drunk and inattentive and spent most of her time being obnoxiously loud with her friends sitting at the bar. We ordered a single bottle of wine, which she forgot about for an inordinate amount of time and then opened and slammed down in front of us and walked away. The bar...

Don't be intimidated by the lack of signage, if you can find this low key french speakeasy amongst the Mott Street boutiques, you've earned your way in. Besides the two luminous armchairs, the interior surfaces seem to have their own glow that gets warmer with each friendly drink recommendation. tasty small plates may be the best kept secret.
