Village Idiot

Great Little Gastropub

Review Rating
Village Idiot has a great selection of drinks, good appetizer, friendly service and a small but quality menu. There are some specials, but I try to focus on the catfish, burger, steak and desserts. If you get there early, definitely snag street parking on Melrose; otherwise, use the valet. It's informal, but if you want to go during a busy dinner time on weekends, definitely make reservations.

This neighborhood gastro-pub is a fun place to go for lunch or dinner. The menu is small but filled with reliable favorites like fish and chips, mussels and hamburgers. The bar is massive. Great for drinks too.

Belgian-ale-steamed mussels and a pint o' Guinness your style? WeHo neighborhood pub the Village Idiot dishes out upscale pub fare (the burger is quite good) and a formidable selection of beers, ales and wine. Take a seat at the mahogany wraparound bar for pub grub such as steak and potato pie or grilled sausages and wash it down with some Boddington's. Fridays and Satrudays, the kitchen stays open ... more

Burger and a pint for lunch Grilled chicken with a warm-bread salad for dinner Glass of bubbly later This instant-hit English pub is open all day. With its exposed-beam ceiling, unadorned brick, raised booths and scuffed chairs and stools, The Village Idiot felt nicely lived-in almost overnight. This can probably be attributed to the fact that the place was instantly mobbed upon opening. Reservations ... more

The exterior, with its picture windows, high gloss black trim and classic hanging sign screams London pub, but the vibe inside the Village Idiot is more SoCal smooth than London proper. The menu puts a West Coast spin on traditional pub food, with dishes like ale-steamed mussels, sunchoke and mushroom pie and a caramelized onion-topped house burger. Beer, of course, is the elixir of choice with a ... more

They make a great burger. Moist, nice relish and they come with crispy fries.

Good food with great beer selection. Many typical pub menu items with added flair and flavor. If only they could find a way to tone down the noise. Good, friendly service in a welcoming neighborhood pub.

A seat at the bar garnered prompt and friendly service. The mussels were super. Fish & chips - not authentic (fish was 2 round lumps, chips were US fries not nice big English chips) but it was pretty tasty. Curried vegetable pie - nice to have a vegetarian dish and it was quite good but nothing I'd HAVE to have again.
