This charming hideaway of a restaurant is an elegant place to dine on Italian cuisine that is prepared with care and served up by a staff that is as warm as the traditional Pizza Margherita is fresh from the oven. The decor is straight from an upscale Italian farmhouse with tiles and dark wood everywhere. The menu changes daily, but there are always a few hearty pasta dishes from which to choose along ... more

Tucked away atop Nob Hill, Venticello Ristorante, is one San Francisco's best kept secrets. With quaint tables, a wood burning oven and views of the bay, Venticello provides a warm intimate atmosphere that is reminiscent of a Tuscan Farmhouse. Recognized as one of the most romantic restaurants in San Francisco, we are located just a few blocks away from the historical Mark Hopkins and Fairmont Hotels ... more

With its mustard-colored walls and old dark-wood bar, you may think for a moment that you`ve wandered into a trattoria in Rome. Pizza with goat cheese, baked in the wood oven, stands out, and the baked mussels are probably the most popular dish on the menu. Service is smoothly Italian.

This place dishes up Italian and Californian cooking. Expect to pay in the range of $20 to $30 per person.

A professional, easygoing staff treks up and down the staircase, navigating a close-knit pattern of wooden tables almost always crowded with upscale Nob Hill residents. The Food Familiar Italian classics with a sophisticated twist form the backbone ... more

When it opened 15 years ago, Venticello won praise for its romantic
setting and refined service.

Located on the corner of Taylor and Washington streets, where the cable
car careens down the hill, Venticello is still a lovely spot for romance, or
just a weeknight outing. Faux Tuscan yellow walls, dim lighting and a glimpse
of the tremendous view create a wonderful setting.

Nice Cozy Place with Good Food

We were promptly seated, friendly service and good food. We started with the gnocchi entre and split if four ways for starter. Mushroom sauce was rich and intense. Caesar Salads with white anchovie was also very nice with large bands of cheese. The lobster bisque pasta special was excellent as was the lamb special and the pork tenderloin. Reasonable Itallian wines; limited CA reds however. I would ... more
