Velvet Margarita

Great Interior, Adequate Food

Review Rating
The food is okay, but hardly stellar for Mexican food. That said, this is a place that serves margaritas and at least tries to complement the drinks with a selection of dishes. The interior is over the top with black velvet paintings and plush booths.

In Short You'd never guess from the grungy garage facade that this is one hot tamale of a place. Inside, the trendy Mexican lounge and restaurant is carnival fun house-meets-Tijuana kitsch: Blue velvet walls, black-lit Elvis portraits, sombreros on the ceiling and a palette consisting almost entirely of deep shades of red set the scene. Roving mariachis serenade hipsters and revelers... more

My friends took me to the Velvet Margarita for my 21st birthday last weekend. What a great place for a party! The staff was very accommodating, from the Host, who made sure our large group was well taken care of, to our Server, who was attentive to a fault, and the Bartenders, who made us stiff drinks all night long! We stayed at our table for over 4 hours and they never made us feel rushed... more

served in a pineapple …-- never saw one like that before --… think they call it the "Velvet Margarita". It was tasty, and strong... more
