Go somewhere else
Vanilla is designed to model the Vegas / NY ultra-chic lounge. The music is mostly techno, house, and trance and the club is relatively small with only one room and one bar. There is a raised VIP section in the rear with bottle service. The main problem with Vanilla is how they treat their customers. I will explain.
The club often creates a long line on purpose to give the illusion that the club is extremely popular. (this is actually a more common practice than most people think), and the bouncers are extremely critical. The main problem is, unlike a similar club in NYC, this is in El Paso. Most of the people there are, for lack of better words, poor, or at least average (which is fine, dont get me wrong), it's just that the club acts like it caters to celebrities when it's just typical college kids and early-mid 20s.
The customer service is horrible, here's my story. A friend of mine and myself threw a VIP party in the elevated VIP area. We had a table and had purchased a couple of bottles of Grey Goose. The club closes at 2am and the staff immediatly began kicking us out. Now, the waitress had our credit cards and took them to cash us out and she was taking a really long time. After about 20 minutes of waiting, I had to go to the bathroom. On my way in, I was grabbed by a bouncer and told the bathroom was closed. I explained that I had been waiting for my check for 20 min, and that I had just spent $400 on bottles in the VIP. He told me "tough s@!t", then told me I had to leave. I re-iterated, that I was still waiting for the waitress to cash me out, his response was that "you can wait for your check outside." Which is rediculous. I went back to my table and told the manager what just happened, who replied "dont listen to him." I said, ok, well, I still have to use the bathroom, and I'm still waiting for my check," then she told me that if I don't like how they treat us i can go somewhere else. (not to mention the fact that the manager was dressed like a whore and was dancing all night, completely un-professional.) As if I wasn't p@!%!d enough, three more bouncers came to my table and tried to kick me out, even after I explained that the only reason I was still there was because the waitress was taking forever to cash me out and that I really wanted to leave. Anyway, the bouncers were extremely rude and when I finally got my check 30 minutes after the club closed, I walked away, vowing to never go back again. Comming from a family in NY who actually owns a couple of places, I can't imagine the owner would have appriciated this behavior from his employees.
If you're looking for a fun place to party, go to MYST, right around the corner. The music and atmosphere is better and they actually know how to treat their customers. I love throwing parties in the VIP over there and have never felt disrespected at that establishment.
