“fresh boba”

Boba Loca
Mmm.. tapioca milk tea with boba. There are other flavors, too, but I don't care for them. Computer with internet available for 15min. max. per customer, for those quick email checks.

“good generic Chinese”

Panda Inn Restaurant
I like the word used by the CS editor to describe this place: "reliable". The menu will be safe and familiar for anyone that's ever ordered junk Chinese, which classics like mu shu pork and kung pao chicken. It's the quality of the food that makes it more than just junk food, though, and the vegetarian dishes are fresh. Try the calamari; it's pretty good here. If you're looking for authentic Chinese or more exotic or adventurous dishes, though, you'd best look elsewhere.

“pretty good cal-asian”

Wokcano
Kinda like PF Changs; generic California Asian stuff. The seaweed salad is perfect, and well-portioned, too. If you can't get enough of the baked scallops on the typical baked scallop sushi roll, then try the Dynamite appetizer. The hot & sour soup is also pretty good. Other than that, I've often had the Garlic Shrimp entree, which isn't bad, but was nothing to write home about. Brown or white rice available on request. There's also a back room for parties or such that seats about 20, I think.

“nice TJs sans the parking”

Trader Joe's
I know they're almost all the same, but I like this TJs. The staff is friendly and the goods are well stocked. The only downside is the parking; look farther from the store, towards San Fernando, for more spaces, as all the competition is for the two rows closest to the entrance.

“really, really good”

Le Clafoutis
Came here with some French relatives, who were appropriately impressed. :-) Great food, incredible service (our waiter spoke fluent French) and lovely atmosphere.

“not bad if you want to be in the middle of the strip”

Treasure Island
The prices are better than the Venetian and Mirage, but the rooms are also a bit smaller for the price than other strip hotels, like the MGM Grand. Our choice for staying here was mandated by some of our party seeing "Love" next door at the Mirage and some of them seeing "Phantom" at the Venetian. The age shows on this place compared to some of the newer mega-hotels, but the service was sharp and friendly. I've had bad service at some of the more expensive boutique hotels in Vegas, so I really value good service. There's a standalone spa (WET) and their cabanas are like $175/day, which isn't bad. Kahunaville is always good in the late evening when the bartenders are showing off, and Mystere is still one of the best Cirque shows on the strip.

“the menu & service makes the place”

Grand Lux Cafe
I found the food a little lackluster, but the extensive and varied menu was perfect for our party: two non-pork eaters, one die-hard European who was delighted to find weinerschnitzel on the menu, and a pair of vegetarians. Really good service.

“only stop here if you are desperate for organic munchies or good sandwiches”

Springdale Fruit Co
Then run for the door. I swear the service here was awful. The guy taking our sandwich orders was downright rude. Same again when some of our family went back inside to get some ice cream. Ugh. Tragic, as the grounds are pretty and the selection is pretty good. Honestly, if there's anywhere else to get fresh built-to-order sandwiches, or organic munchies, in Springdale, GO THERE INSTEAD. On behalf of Americans everywhere and our reputation for friendly service, I was downright embarrassed in front of our visiting European relatives.

“good for grub after a long day”

Zion Pizza & Noodle Co
Came here for dinner with the family. Everyone ordered pizzas, and a variety of them, and they smelled pretty good & seemed good overall. I ordered a Caesar salad, which was reasonably fresh, but nothing to rave about. Good beer & wine list. Pretty popular place, ample parking, bring a fleece if you plan to sit out on the patios in the evening.

“great motel on the edge of Zion”

Cliffrose Lodge and Gardens
We lucked out with this being our first choice. I ended up in the pool and then in the hot tub, chatting with some visiting folks from OC who said this place was the best motel in Springdale. The grounds are beautiful, and right by the river, so you can get some riverside rooms. Spacious rooms, too - we got the Riverside Family Suite, which has two queen beds & a small separate living area with a futon & two chairs. Was plenty of room for breakfasting with our extended family in the next room. Friendly service, clean rooms, beautiful locale.

“expanding & wider selection”

Trader Joe's
This has always been one of those smaller TJ's, but they're expanding, meaning fewer shopping cart collisions in the future. A reasonable selection of cheeses, and pretty well stocked. Friendly staff.

“always great service”

Armstrong Garden Ctr
YellowBot Location A pretty good selection of organic herbs and vegetables. Always very healthy looking plants. A nice selection of pots, though they don't carry more than a few small ceramic self-waterers. A large selection of EB Organics food & soil, as well as Earth Juice in stock.

“cheap clothing”

Xi Clothing
YellowBot Location I've never seen cheaper teen/pop clothing elsewhere, but you get what you pay for. I had one top completely open down the front after it's first wash. I used to shop here years ago before I knew better - that the prices are sweatshop prices and for a little more $$, I could get sweatshop-free stuff that was much better quality.

“tiny, but super-friendly”

That Yarn Store In Eagle Rock
YellowBot Location There was a whole gaggle of people there crafting when I walked in, which was really cool. The owner (I'm assuming) put his work down and asked if I had any questions, wanted to sign up on their mailing list, and gave me a brochure for upcoming events. Their stock was a little sparse, but he assured me they were expecting a new shipment soon. Prices were typical LYS, but with all the cheap online yarn, that's to be expected. I haven't tried bringing a project and knitting-along, but with the cozy couches and the friendly people, I'd expect this to be a good place to hang out and knit.

“good car wash”

Fasching's Car Wash Auto Dtlng
YellowBot Location I find the citysearch review below hard to believe. Faschings has always done a GREAT job on my cars: a sedan, then an SUV and now a truck. $18 gets it vaccumed inside & out (the truck bed), run through the all-cloth wash and then hand dried. They wipe down all the interior surfaces and polish the windows and tires. All in less than 10 minutes. Honestly, just drive by sometime: if the service was really that bad, would you see so many high priced cars there? Nuff said.

“so L.A., but reasonably solid pho”

Pho Cafe
Personally, I'll admit that I'm biased - I love oxtail soup and pho places that don't have it make me sad. :-( That in mind, there's much to love anyway about Pho Cafe, from the retro-chic modern decor, to the steady crowd of LA-ish 20- and 30-somethings to the fresh pho ingredients. The egg rolls were a little bit greasy, but not enough to keep my spouse from chowing them all down. Fast, efficient service.

“just the best chicken, plus healthy eats”

Birds Rotisserie Chicken Cafe & Bar
Great place to hook up with friends for lunch. Good variety on the menu, though the specialty is a great rotisserie chicken with a variety of dipping sauces, optional sides (potatoes, veggies, fries) and generous piece of lavash for wrapping up the meaty goodness. I love the wraps, as they're very fresh and tasty & just the right size. Great drinks at the bar, which makes this a nice hang-out well into the evening.

“grilled meat, seafood & veggies with a twist”

Bossa Nova
I've only eaten in the restaurant once, but have ordered delivery several times. The pizzas are good, as is the grilled seafood. I LOVE the plantains and am still a little clueless as to what I'm supposed to do with the yucca flour. :-) But good, solid food. We tend to order from here when we have friends over and are looking for something different from the standard pizza delivery.

“healthy eating finally meets great food!”

Cheebo
I agree, it's dependably good. I recently went there with a friend who's on a pretty strict diet and she was tickled pink to be able to order a plate of quinoa, steamed spinach and scrambled eggs, with a side of salsa. They have a great selection of organic teas, too.

“good yarn store”

Skein
This is a great yarn store with classes and help available. Friendly staff, quiet location. Parking limited to three or four spots in the tiny lot off Walnut, but I've gotten parking on Wilson too. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that the selection of yarns could be better. While there are a lot of the fancy higher-end yarns available, I miss having more a selection of middle-class "general purpose" yarns.
