“A decent spot, if your horse died...”

Cowboy Country
I went to see a buddy play at this joint (finally). He's been telling me all about it- free line dancing lessons if you get there early, a nice-sized dance floor, etc.

So I finally went but didn't get the full feel as it was raining cats & dogs so the crowd wasn't up to snuff. Everyone was super-friendly (even though I was wearing no hat, huge belt buckle, or dead animal for shoes). Music was great. Waitresses could've been more attentive.

“Best cafeteria...EVER!”

Zona Rosa Caffe
First time I visited this place was actually to see someone play (she was in this small band). Zona Rosa sits next to the Pasadena Playhouse, but in-between the two is this small alcove & that's where all the indie bands play. This only occurs during the spring & summer months on Thursday evenings. Loads of fun!

That first time in there, I noticed they had "Chocolate de la Abuelita" a famous Mexican brand I grew up with & this became my spot. I started working nearby not too long after & used to have my daily Zocalo con Platano (Abuelita chocolate blended with bananas)---absolutely the best cold drink...EVER!

“Love Peet's! Hate the people!”

Peet's Coffee & Tea
Peet's is my favorite coffee shop. It's the original after all & the model that the other large restaurants "borrowed" from. But this Peet's is the absolute worst! Every single time I've gone, the staff is incredibly rude & stuck up.

I don't expect 'service with a smile' as we all have bad days but heck, 'service with a grin' would be a marked improvement!!

“Cool spot, cool folks, warm coffee”

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
I make it a point to visit this spot every month that I'm Santa Barbara for work. Taking a walk in the outdoor mall or towards the beach a few blocks away, coffee in hand, is such a relaxing thing.

“Cool spot, not enough gear”

Lids
The salesperson was nice enough but they had no USC or LA Clipper hats!

Also, since when do caps cost $35?
