“Virginia Tea Society visits Rowena's”

Rowena's
I am the Director of The Virginia Tea Society. We held our September meeting along with a fabulous tea at Rowena's and it was beyond belief. I had spoken with Andrea, the pastry chef several times arranging the tea and she made sure Rowena's lived up to it's name. There was comforting music playing in the background, beautifully set tables with a vase of fresh flowers on each and a wonderful atmosphere. It was the best tea, in this area, that I have had the opportunity of attending. We were offered bottomless pots of loose teas: Earl Grey, Liz's Blend, Apricot and Raspberry along with three decaf's: English Breakfast, Green and Orange Spice along with milk or lemon slices and sugar cubes in a swan shaped container with tongs. We were also offered goblets of water with lemon and glasses of sparkling cider. There were five types of sandwiches - two halves of each, cherry tomatos, two scones served with lemon curd, Devonshire clotted cream and assorted jams, three slices of Rowena's's famous cakes, three slices of various melons, strawberries, kiwi's, grapes, and two hersey kisses. All of this was served on three tier trays...not one for each table but one three tier tray for each guest. It was just everything you expect at a Royal Tea and beyond. They even provided containers for take home delights. It was simply Marvelous!!! I recommend this Tea Room highly to everyone who reads this review. Thank you Rowena, Andrea and staff for a remarkable event! We will certainly be back soon! Aurora Livingston, Director, Virginia Tea Society, www.virginiateasociety.com

“VTS Birthday Celebration”

Victorian Station
I am the Director Of The Virginia Tea Society and was recently treated to a fabulous afternoon birthday tea at The Victorian Station Tea Room. The tea and menu were selected especially for me (I felt like a Queen!)We were all dressed in our best tea attire and our proper tea hats and gloves, all which added to the unique tea experience. The elegant atmosphere was breathtaking, the service superb and the food was to die for!The owner and staff had done everything possible to make my day one that I will never forget. Many of the Virginia Tea Society members were in attendance. The afternoon experience truly reflected the true mission statement of the Virginia Tea Society, 'To share the love of tea, to foster friendships and to always relax and have fun .One more thing, do take of the extraordinary gift shop on the first floor. The variety is so extensive that I always have to purchase something.Lots of Tea Love to The Victorian Station Staff and to those who read this review.- Aurora Livingston 08/18/08

“Never Again”

With Flair Tea Room
I am the Director of The Virginia Tea Society. Our group visited the With Flair Tea Room on Saturday, June 21, 2008. Our reservations were for 1:00 and had been placed several months ago. We arrived at 12:45 assuming that we would have time to set up for our meeting/tea. When we arrived the tea room was completely full of other parties. We waited on the front porch of the tearoom, outside in the heat, we finally decided to hold our meeting there since we had no idea when we would have access to our room. We were offered ice water but it was never served. When The bridal shower attendees came out they said they had no idea that there was another party waiting. After waiting approximately forty minutes, we were told that we could have access to our room. They offered two kinds of fruit teas and the service on that was slow. No lemon was served and only four sugar cubes for a table of four. The tea was called a Royal Tea but was actually an Afternoon Tea. The food that was provided seemed to be leftovers from the previous party. The sandwiches were dry and had very little filling. The scones were dry and hard and they did not serve clotted cream, just some type of whipped cream. The desserts were partially melted and hard to handle. I feel that the event was poorly handled, there was no suggestion of a reduction in price, in fact according to their menu, we were overcharged. Greed will cost them customers. I will not go there again nor will I recommend them to any else.
