I know that the Social Security administration is busy and I get that but this office is ridiculous. You can't thru on the phone and when you go into the office you have to sit for hours and wait for someone to help you and most of the time they are beyond rude. I have been trying since January to get my sister SSI because she is in an assisted living and her income is not enough for Medicaid...

We are outraged at the service with this office. We were there Monday because we did had not received our SS benefit check. Go back next day to find out they had not given us the correct papers.Had to go home , and fill them out. We were told to come back with the paper work, and we would not have to wait. I did not expect special treatment but I did expect a degree of professionalism, sadly I must report that neither was in the offing. I felt as if my request was an imposition on the female employee' s time.

I just got off the phone with SS Office in Maryland 800-772-1213, and I must say the CSR that answered the phone was very pleasant and kind. She took my information, verified the information and completed my request in a very kind and respectful way. I have heard lots of negative remarks about the Social Security office here in Charlotte, NC that I decided to use the 800 #. I might add...

I had to wait forever which was expected... But I did not expect the lady behind the window to chit chat with her friend the whole time. It was so rude. I felt like MY questions were interrupting HER unprofessional conversation which was actually gossip. I'll definitely go elsewhere next time.
