Do NOT Live Here

Review Rating
Let it suffice to say that getting on one of the elevators today, there was a penis drawn inside with "Don't live here" written under it.

The building is constantly plagued with fraternity parties every weekend with people screaming, music blasting, bottles of beer being thrown off of balconies, ceiling tiles being punched out, glass fire extinguisher cases being broken, etc. This is not on occasion - this is every weekend. Not to mention the fire alarm constantly being set off in the middle of the night and the fact that they are just NOW installing a sprinkler system (only in the lobby so far) can make one rather uneasy.

The rooms are RIDICULOUSLY expensive for what they are. When I first arrived I accidentally pulled the blinds off the door when pulling the string to let some light in. The door to our balcony is hard to close and doesn't even block the cold wind or bugs from getting in (I stuffed some old undershirts in the doorway to help with this). The walls are ridiculously thin, I don't even know why they bothered. They just put new washing machine and dryers in, which is a plus - but there's only 3 of each on every floor, so its a hassle to find one to use sometimes. The "computer lab" they offer is in the lobby and always vandalized; internet and printer cables are always stolen so its impossible to even use - you also have to provide your own printer paper. The bathroom sink clogs easily and the kitchen stove has probably never been replaced since the building was built in 1989. Maintenance has to come and change the setting of your air-conditioner each season, since it does not both heat AND cool - only one or the other.

Living here has been miserable and the ID system they have is pointless. Apparently I'm not even listed as a resident of any particular room in their computer system, which has caused complications. In fact, when the lady behind the desk checked my room number one night, she said there weren't ANY residents listed for that room. I had arrived for spring semester at UT and found out that the room I was moving into was already full, one of the guys had to find a different room to stay in after I showed up (and I mean different room entirely, not just a different bedroom). This really says a lot about the management running the place.

All in all, the only thing remotely decent about University Towers is the meal plan, but that is not worth living in this hell hole for. Stay away at all costs. After all, anything should be cheaper than this place, or at least anything else should be priced more reasonably.
