We picked CBBR for its Universal parks proximity/perks (early admission for Harry Potter! A lazy river, two pools, and a waterslide plus tub). It's a pretty big place but we had our walking shoes on anyway for the park visits. The tongue-in-check retro vibe worked for us; kid liked the oldies ads and cartoons looping in the Bayliner cafeteria and lounge; dad and I enjoyed the oldies playing not...

Loved this hotel! I'm a big fan of mid-century design, so that kind of sealed the decision on where to stay for me. Our family suite was on the small side, but we really were only here to sleep. We stayed on the ground floor of Castaway, courtyard pool view. The facilities are fantastic. We booked the Cabana Bay because we thought we would get in to Universal's Island of Adventure an hour early. Also, we thought we would save on parking. We were wrong on both presumed perks! The Island of Adventure never opens an hour early and we paid $21 a night and HAD to use their valet service for parking. Finally, one of the two pools was closed the entire afternoon which meant the other...
The second week of our holiday was at this hotel, it has everything you need, Staffa no service is exceptional. The pools and beaches are perfect places to relax after a day at the parks, use the shuttle, never more than a 2 or 3 minute wait.
