This popular WeHo restaurant boasts a large patio overlooking Santa Monica Boulevard popular with cigarette-smoking ex-pats from Moscow. Patrons swear by the kharcho (tomato-based lamb soup), pelmeni and the grilled sturgeon. The friendly wait staff is a bonus for those new to Russian cuisine. We like the flavored vodka here...the Russians know how to serve it up just right as well.

I went on Wednesday night to Traktir. The waiter was very nice. We drank the compote, which was very refreshing. We ordered the trio of those dumplings, then the chicken in crepes with mushroom cream sauce. Both plates were very tasty (I think they both had the same sauce). this place is probably the best Russian restaurant in los angeles. the food is so fresh and so familiar that it feels as though my grandmother is in that kitchen cooking the food.the restaurant is very quaint and nicely decorated. the wait staff knows the food so thats always good. definitely start with the traditional cucumber and tomato salad. if you like borscht its supposed to be really great ...

I can always go here with my friends and family, whenever. We always enjoy eating here. It gives us a taste of babushka's homecooked meals. haha. =) Highly recommend to come and try it out for yourself. Take my word, it will not be time wasted and you may in fact end up coming more than once.
