Great location on the river in Townsend

Townsend is a quiet, small town but has grocery store, gas, propane and great mom-n-pop stores. If you want all the chain stores/restaurants, go to Gatlinburg. The best spots at the KOA back up to the river and I don't recall any of them backing up against the highway. We especially appreciated the dog park and clean bathrooms.

We make an annual trip to this campground right before school starts. We are always impressed at how clean everything is kept here -- our number-one concern. It's really a family oriented place, with lots of recreational opportunity for kids (and there were a lot). The sites are a bit cramped, but everything works well.
