Toi On Wilshire

Rockin' Thai

Review Rating
Instead of Thai-Chinese, Toi is Thai-Hard Rock. The inside of the restaurant is plastered with rock posers from around 1975-1985. This is where the guys from Guitar Center get their pad thai. One of the best things there is the simplest: the black rice. Get that instead of normal rice. The portions are GIGANTIC, meaning one order lasts you for two meals, so be prepared to take something back. The prices are low. It's really spicy and tasty, so I go there frequently. The weekday lunch combo special is a real bargain.

Business Description from the Web

Toi serves dishes of the kind and quality you'd expect to find at most neighborhood Thai restaurants. What's anything but standard is Toi's rock 'n' roll reputation and décor, which make it a great place to continue an evening or to fuel up before a second round of carousing. The restaurant offers an extensive veggie menu, and such specials as spicy Thai spaghetti, a sizable portion of chicken,... more

A rock-and-roll reliquary where the almost-hungover indulge late-night brown rice cravings.

In Short This Thai restaurant is all about rock and roll. With posters of AC/DC, David Bowie and the Clash, leopard-print drapes, waitresses who look like retired Go-Go's, and crowds at 4am, Toi projects hard-core rock-star attitude. Besides the scene, standard favorites like pad thai are the draw. Dried chili-cashew nut melds cashews and barbecue sauce with cabbage, onions and hot... more

We used to go to Toi a couple times a month for years!
We loved it. It is local and always delicious. The wait staff was never that great, but the last few times we've been, the awful wait staff matched the awful food! Not sure what happened here but the food became inedible. The chicken in the curry was RAW! Hope they can figure it out because we will miss the great food they once served.

Toi is pretty cool. The atmosphere rocks! I love the music they play here. That's the real reason I go to Toi. Rockin' cool vibes. The food...it's ok for this side of the 405. I usually take out-of-towners here when they want some cool, non-pretentious LA vibe and cheap food. My rock band friends from SF always want to come here every time they're in town. It's cute, like our little... more

I used to eat at Toi quite a bit, but after my last experience, I definitely do not plan to go there anymore. I had a few friends in from out of town and we ordered for takeout. The person who took the order told us it would take 10 minutes. We arrived there about 40 minutes after the order was placed and it still wasn't ready. The extremely rude guy who attended to us (and we found out took... more
