Business Description from the Web
With a menu offering French, American and Continental cuisines, this is a fine dining establishment. Expect the average entrée to cost roughly $20 to $30, and dress casual.
One of San Diego's culinary institutions endures with famous roast duck, award-winning wine list and classic fine dining ambiance.
Tips About This Business
Known for it's extensive, 100-page wine list, choosing can be a chore. Ask your server for help in narrowing it down, or try attending one of the wine-paired tasting dinners.
The adjacent small dirt lot is reserved for restaurant patrons, but first-timers often don't "get" the layout. There are three lines of cars, but the middle row needs one space open on each end, otherwise the last row of vehicles gets trapped.
One of the longest running early-bird menus in San Diego includes special pricing from $15-$19 on select menu items like roast duck and fish dishes. Note that the menu may be temporarily suspended for other promotions.
Editorial Reviews from the web
The Scene Walking into the cozy, dimly lit dining room today out on the point in OB is virtually the same experience as entering it 20 years ago. Custom wood cabinetry houses the non-cellar portion of the extensive wine collection, and white-clothed tables lay well-spaced throughout two main rooms. Local art in gold frames and menus from the restaurant's bygone eras don the walls....

This comfy restaurant, housed in an old Ocean Beach bungalow, is a first-rate eatery with traditional French cuisine. Since the restaurant's early days, roast duck in a variety of sauces has been a house specialty; try Cumberland (black cherry with currants). Other winning dishes are the rack of lamb, a hearty osso buco and escargots. The kitchen also creates chocolate and orange liqueur...

This small cottage stands alone at the edge of Robb Field near the Ocean Beach channel, a romantic hideaway beckoning diners for consistently rewarding Continental cuisine. By far the fanciest restaurant in laid-back Ocean Beach, Thee Bungalow endears itself to the local crowd with daily early-bird specials ($14-$16), but oenophiles will revel in a wine list that doesn't suffer snobs yet...

Other Reviews from the web
Saturday 10/24/09 for their Julia special. Hadn't been here for five years.
The food gets a solid "B". Not bad. My wife particularly enjoyed her fish. My boeuf bourguignon was OK -- the pearl onions had not been caramelized or cooked completely, and tasted sharply onion-y, and the meat had not braised sufficiently to be as tender as this dish should be.
Wine by the glass was acceptable...

The Cohn restaurant group (owner of Thee Bungalows) apprently has many "friends" who are willing to write them good reviews based on friendship. This practice will mislead consumers so please do not be fooled by this. There were the two good reviews posted recently from "Insider Page", as IP trace indicated they were comming from the same computer. There are more reviews like this as you read...

I had to use another name in order to re-post my previous review, the review was removed by this site for no reason!
Don’t be fooled by good revises on this site, they are mostly fake and written by restaurant employees. If you want to know more, please email to programmer_user@yahoo (dotcom)
Ever since The Cohn restaurant group takeover, the restaurant is no longer the same. The restaurant...
