Had two wonderful nights. Only issue was having to go to a different location for keys. Short walk to the resteurants and shops.

Great location but needs improvement for the price

Perfect location. However....
bathroom walls had stains on them and some of the wallpaper was missing. During prime season, this is an expensive room. Innkeepers should replace bathroom wallpaper and ensure the cleaning crew does their job. Dirty linens left in plastic bag, in back hallway for over a day. No outside sitting area for nice weather. Patio chairs requested but not delivered....

Two night stopover

First thing to note is that this is not a hotel. It is a B&B - a very good B&B - or rather a chain of 5 B&Bs - Inns of Newport. Each of the 5 buildings was once a merchants house and the rooms fitted out and decorated in the period style. You have to check in at the office in the Cleveland House Inn opposite the Clarkston.
