Veranda is one of the best restaurants in Birmingham...but it's not the first that comes to mind when you ask most of your friends. Why? It's a well hidden secret. My husband and I recently celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary at the Veranda. The food was fabulous, one of the best meals I have enjoyed in Birmingham. The perfectly seared scallops were accompanied by crisp, tangy avocado slaw and the halibut was wonderfully moist and flakey. Ever since Chef Robey took over the kitchen at the newly re-opened Veranda, something really special has been happening on Highland Avenue that has nothing to do with Bottega. This is the best place in Birmingham to sample authenic cajun/creole dishes with a unique southern flair.
