The Restaurant at The Standard Restaurant Review

Considering it’s a popular venue, the staff displays none of the snobbish attitude of the bouncers outside. The clientele is predominantly young and cool, undoubtedly headed for the rooftop bar or Biergarten after their meal to check out the scene. The restaurant has elements of a diner --- plush booths, burgers, fries and banana splits --- but that's where the small-town-USA references end....

A new era of revitalization for downtown L.A. took off running with the opening of the downtown Standard hotel. Three months after the opening sleepover party (attended by Hollywood's finest clad in pajamas), most of the 207 guest rooms… Read More

Rooftop Bar at The Standard Restaurant Review

It’s got potent cocktails, such as a pineapple margarita with tequila, orange liqueur, lime and pineapple juice. A killer view brings a crowd that is young, hip and beautiful. Water beds covered by cherry-red, pod-like cabanas encircle the pool...

Biergarten Restaurant Review

Celebrate Oktoberfest all year round on the rooftop of The Standard Downtown LA, which has always been a hot scene in one form or another. After the success of Biergarten at the Manhattan Standard, the concept has been adapted on the West Coast, in a setting that combines rustic and chic qualities. Austrian chef Kurt Gutenbrunner (New York's Wallsé, Café Sabarsky and The Standard New York) has...

We were not staying at the hotel, but enjoyed a previous visit during Thanksgiving. We called and were told there were a lot of reservations for Mother’s Day, but went anyway. There were still tables open, so we were seated inside. We ordered pancakes, French...
