In Short Despite movie theater roots and some current big-screen offerings, Magic Bag deals primarily in music nowadays, with a soft spot for blues, and is also a popular place for CD release parties for Detroit music acts. On Brew 'n' View movie nights, patrons relax with beer and popcorn while enjoying flicks--not to mention reduced admission prices and pitcher specials.

I was skeptical at first glance of the Magic Bag. It is a reformed small theater that is now an open area with a few tables. It is small and the decor is nothing to write home about, but they have a fantastic 80's band that plays and is SO worth the $10 cover charge. They put on a long, totally entertaining performance and even had 80's graphics on a background screen.

The magic bag in downtown ferndale is one of my favorite small clubs to see live music at. It has a very cozy feeling inside and is just generally very inviting. Multi level platforms allow for everyone to have a great view of the stage.
