The Jackalope definitely one awesome bar, with amazing food. The regular kitchen has great bar food, the best burgers around. The pizza place in the front makes a fine thin crust pizza with a fantastic sauce and a some really great and unusual toppings ( pulled pork, blue cheese and bacon, and a chicken caesar salad pie are some I have tried). I am new to this City Search thing, but me and the band passed through Austin on tour and I wanted to let other musicians and travelers who may not be familiar with Austin where to go eat and drink. I've never had to wait so long for a drink and it wasn't the volume of customers that was the problem, it was the apathy of the bartenders. They'd walk around looking at the ground as to not make eye contact with anyone. The staff is also very rude.
I'm from a small town and miss real dive bars. This is just a trendy spot with decent music, but nothing dive bar about it. This is Austin- too...
