Built with a creative combination of American gothic and Martha Stewart, the Ivy invites guests to lunch and dine in the shabby chic of a deteriorating garden home. Out on the Ivy 's patio, white tables topped with potted plants and candles sit near pillow-lined benches, bordered by a peeling white picket fence. Inside, the vine-encompassed cottage houses more tables,...

Unless you`re a somebody, you may not even notice this somewhat well-worn classic with its picket fence border, but the somebodies from around the world favor this contemporary American restaurant. It`s wall-to-wall celebs, in the usual twos and threes, that dine on chef Richard Irving`s famous California dishes, including crab cakes and the favored grilled vegetable salad. It`s almost ...

A place to see and be seen, the menu is traditional American, emphasizing comfort-food classics like fresh corn chowder, mesquite-grilled Cajun prime rib and fried chicken. Fish-and-chips consist of a giant platter with shrimp, scallops, cod and calamari, plus mountains of onion rings and fries. But the biggest compliments go to pastry chef Irving for seducing Hollywood's whippet-thin starlets...

One of LAs most intense power-meal spots is also one of its prettiest. The utterly charming patio, bordered by a white picket fence, is just one of the down-home design elements, created by co-ownerdesigner Lynn von Kersting, masquerading the fact that this is anything but a casual joint. Celebs come here to be photographed by the always-lurking paparazzi; Industry folks cut deals that they...

It's all so perfect behind the white picket fence, isn't it? Known as much for its only-in-L.A. pricetags as it is for its paparazzi-lined front patio, this iconic cottage is the quintessential see and be seen spot in La-La Land. Unlike the super-sleek loungey look of other power dining spots, the interior here is shabby chic and cluttered to the max: Peeling furniture, faded chintz, old...

The food was VERY pricey but also really good. At my table we ordered crabcake appetizers (not very good at all), seafood risotto (delicious), lobster ravioli special (wish I'd ordered it), fish and chips (not just fish and fries but a GINORMOUS platter with onion rings, calamari, shrimp and scallops too), and white wine/Bellinis. I will definitely go back when I'm in L.A. Shopping at Kitson...

My husband & I were visiting Santa Monica and decided it would be fun to go down to the Beverly Hills area to see if we could eat at the famed IVY restaurant. We made reservations for a Saturday night and didn't have a problem at all getting an outside table at the time we requested. Our experience there was very positive--the service was great, from the valet to the waiter & his assistant who...

My daughter and I set out for a special mother/daughter day in the Hollywood area. We were dressed very nice and made special reservations to sit outside to eat our lunch. We arrived 15 minutes early and we were placed in a small inside area with only two other people dining in it. ALL of us had the $'s to pay for our "fine" meal but I felt because we were sized up as to being "ordinary...
