Formerly a bland chain hotel, this 1960s four-story hotel received an art deco makeover in the early 2000s and reemerged as a trendy (by Albuquerque standards) boutique property. The stylish rooms have art deco-style prints, white walls and furniture, and simple black accents. Although it's not fancy, the rates are terrific considering the central location and great amenities, such as dual-line phones, free local calls, 25-inch TVs, hair dryers, and irons and ironing boards. It overlooks a small park, is a short stroll from downtown's many lively music clubs and restaurants, and is a short drive or 15-minute walk from Old Town. www.thehotelblue.com . 125 rooms, 10 suites. In-hotel: restaurant, bar, pool, gym, parking (no fee). AE, D, DC, MC, V. Continental breakfast.
