One of the most versatile halls in the North Loop, the Chicago Theatre's offerings span musicals ("Fame"), comedians (D.L. Hughley) and touring musicians (everyone from Johnny Mathis to Philip Glass to The Wiggles). Rising straight up above the entrance to this State Street landmark, the "C-H-I-C-A-G-O" marquee, with more than 3,600 lights and a miniature Arc de Triomphe, has become a revered... more

The Venue The theater itself is something to behold: ornate decorations in red, red and more red, scenic murals decorating the walls, chandeliers and plush seating. The main floor seats 1,970, including side boxes, and the balcony, also equipped with boxes, seats 1,540. Main-floor seating generally provides good views of the stage, though closer is better, obviously, given the sheer... more

Paris has that beaux-arts triumph, the Paris Opera Garnier; and Chicago has this French Baroque-style marvel, The Chicago Theatre. The comparison isn't completely unfounded: Though the Chicago Theatre wasn't actually modeled after the Opera, it has the same grandiosity and gilded, oversized beauty (modeled in part after the Royal Chapel at Versailes). #2 in my favorite venues in Chicago! I have been in PIT seats for many shows and can't say enough! The Loge is my other favorite spot! What a beautiful theatre from the moment you walk in to the view from your seats! The acoustics's are 2nd to none! I have never ever experience a bad sounding show at The Chicago Theatre! My VIP Concierge Service pumps a lot of people through this venue and... more

This is the only theatre I know of in Chicago that closes its box office on weekends unless there is a show, making it virtually impossible to buy tickets in person unless there is a show that night. This forces customers to use ticketmaster to purchase tickets and get charged up to 20% extra. It's as though they don't WANT customers to buy tickets in person. Why can't they take a hint from... more

My kids used to love The Wiggles so when we found out they would be in Chicago at the Chicago Theatre we bought tickets right away. The Theatre is amazing inside with its gorgeous grand staircase with plush red carpeting and the beautiful paintings painted on the ceilings and walls inside the theater itself. It has stadium seating which was great for the kids. The staff was amazingly friendly... more
