“Hipsters and bankers” get amped up by this “lively” Bowery double-decker whose alternating currents include live bands, “dance parties”, “great” mix masters and even theater performances; fans plug it for “trying to keep the flame of CBGB’s alive”, but foes zap it as a “downtown bar chewed up, swallowed and regurgitated for a B&T crowd.”

In addition to being a play on the title of Walt Whitman's "I Sing the Body Electric," the bar's name is also a tribute to the old Bowery Electric Festival at CBGB and the Bowery Electrical Supply Co, which occupied the space for over 50 years.
No contemporary New York rock bar would be complete without some celebrity backing, and this one is no different--Bowery Electric's principal's include popular singer/ songwriter Jesse Malin and nightlife impresario Johnny T, of Motherf*cker party fame.
