Small plates, great wine list, romantic interior, but bad parking
Tasca Restaurant

Dark and Cozy Wine Bar

Review Rating
Tasca has a selection of rich phenomenal food and tasy wines. The restaurant is dark, romantic and cozy; it's not good for parties or kids. Instead, it's more of a special occasion or date place. Although its literally a block away from AOC, it's a world away on the inside; it is decidedly not a scene place. Don't let this fool you; the service, food and prices are all great! The only problem is parking. 3rd street between La Cienega and Fairfax is probably the only stretch of road in LA with more valets than normal spots (which are typically poached by the valets.) Plan on either parking in one of the few spaces in the back or on a sidestreet by a meter and walking a block or two...but it's worth it!

Tasca is that rarest of birds, a moderately priced restaurant that offers some real atmosphere along with the grub.

It isn't necessarily the array of wines that bring in diners from around L.A to Tasca Wine Bar. It's the atmosphere and the traditional Mediterranean food that have this restaurant being talked about all over town. Wines are a big part of the scene though (the restaurant only recently got its liquor license) with varieties ranging from a Santa Barbara Viognier to a Mas de Fournel Pic St.-Loup... more

An attractive young neighborhood crowd makes a lively evening scene, chatting among oxblood leather banquettes, a burnished oak bar, candles, antique mirrors, glowing glass lamps and sensuous art. The menu features classic tapas such as black sausage, saffron mussels, salt cod brandade and Basque fish stew. Large plates include braised short ribs, pork chop with quince, and Tuscan black bass.... more

The Scene Tiny tea candles glint alongside silver flatware, ornate mirrors, and cinnamon-hued banquettes, adding an elegant sparkle to the small, cavernous space. Enamored couples linger at two-seater tables, while relaxed regulars swirl wine at the sommelier-manned bar. Plates arrive a la carte, sometimes at a slower-than-preferred pace--a shortcoming that is allayed by the earnest,... more

My friend and I wanted to get a glass of wine so we decided to try Tasca the other night. In total, we had an app for $12, four glasses of wine for $7 each and one glass of wine for $9. Our bill was $77. I'm not the best at math but when I calculate this it comes out to $49. The waiter said it was because there were "tasting" charges and "glass" charges. Before we ordered two of the wines,... more

Walked in for dinner around 7:30 on a Saturday night sans reservation, got seated right away. Nice host, charming waiter. Ambience lovely, good music, cozy lighting. Place filled up, seemed like a fun mixed crowd. But service really slow, food crawled out of the kitchen at a snails pace. The wine was good, but we had to drink a ton of it because our food wasn't arriving. In my mind the thing... more

Celebrating a birthday at Tasca is just a horrible idea. Our group wasn't seated until nearly 10 PM, which was 40 minutes after our so-called reservation. The service was atrocious! We were very hungry but they refused to bring any bread until after we ordered (which took another 25 minutes). The server was pompous, insulting and could not answer simple questions in a straight forward... more
