NOT trendy, NOT cali-mex...but Mexican food! Oh my, it is DELICIOUS! This is the best MEXICAN food in the city. Pretty much anywhere on this little strip is good, all with their unique blends of the same foods. But it's definitely authentic...the prices are Awesome! And the service is friendly even if you don't speak Spanish, lol...just stick to ordering off of the menu. They can still catch on...

Ever since moving here from Southern Arizona, where I lived for more than 20 years, I've been looking for a Mexican restaurant that approaches authentic. Taqueria Mexico is far and away the most authentic Mexican restaurant I've found in KC after 4 years of searching. They make good, simple Mexican food. I lived in Mexico for about a year and one of my favorite things to do was eat at the taco stands. These were tacos that I had never had before, simple and tasty. No heavy cheese, no ground beef and no heavy condiments, just simple tacos. The tacos here are like I remember in my time in Mexico. Check it out especially on Saturday night when they occassionally will have mariachi's perform.
