I've eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants around the mid-west - as well as many in real life Mexico (not tourist locations) and this is by far the most authentic tasting I have had outside Mexico (excepting perhaps a few places along the Texas-Mexico border). They don't have much of a menu but what they do have is top-notch....
We went with high expectations and they were met! Then, they moved the goal post! Taqueria Marias raises the bar for any Mexican restaurant. The menu is small - but don't worry, if it's not on the menu, odds are they will make your request to order.

We go here at least once a month. The salsa and chips are fresh and homemade as well as everything else. It isn't typical Americanized Mexican food. I love the tacos with the corn tortillas as well as their fajitas. I cannot even finish the fajitas you get so much. Love the food, very laid back atmosphere.
The first time we had tacos here took me right back to the corner taco stand in Mexico! This is the BEST Mexican food I've ever had in the US. Their tacos are awesome, any meat, even tongue! Their seafood soup blew my mind, huaraches, tamales, chimichangas, etc. I love this place. Prices are so good its like stealing. Everything...
