“Fresh fish” is still “swimming in the tank” when you enter this “authentic-as-it-gets” Chinatown “late-night” haunt where the kitchen turns out “perfectly prepared” Cantonese seafood “until 3 AM”; most “don’t care” about the unremarkable decor and occasionally “lax” service, considering the “bargain” tabs and the option to BYO without corkage.

I heard that Tai Lake was a great restaurant for seafood, however on the night my friends and I visited, we were not very impressed by the array of seafood they had to offer.  There were six of us, who were sat promptly, which we appreciated.  However, the restaurant was still quite busy and had a line waiting at the door.  We all ordered different things, myself sticking to the egg drop soup...

This place is pretty good, it's well known restaurant for its Cantonese food. There are always events held at this restaurant, so I advise to call beforehand and get a reservation for large/small...

Was on vacation in Philly and came here on a recommendation from a friend we were staying with. Atmosphere: Entrance has aquariums filled with fresh, live sea food of all kinds, good start....

You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Tai Lake is my favorite restaurant in Philly Chinatown. Authentic cantonese food is served decently fast and tastes delicious.
