Money over Service

I understand the need to make money - as the wife of a small business owner, I am deeply sympathetic. However, I am a customer servant first and foremost in my work experience, and this business does not have their customers' interests at heart -- only making money.

I booked an appointment a month in advance to redeem a $50 Living Social voucher at Supernatural Hair, since there were no other appointments available any sooner. I guess I was counting on a reminder call since it was booked so far out -- my neighborhood garage sale happened to be scheduled the same day as my reservation, and with no reminder call, it slipped my mind. In the middle of my sale, the salon called me to ask whether I was still coming. I couldn't come today because of my sale. When I asked why I didn't receive a reminder call, she said it was because she generally doesn't make reminder calls.

Not only were they unwilling to reschedule, the salon redeemed my voucher since I didn't cancel in time -- a voucher worth $50. This is a shotty business practice, at best. I've never heard of a salon that didn't make reminder calls, and even so, to be unwilling to reschedule a voucher that is good until August is unacceptable.

My bad -- I forgot the appointment. But this salon will never get my business because of this incident, and that is worth more than a lousy $50.
