The grand dame that is more Dame Elizabeth Taylor than Miley Cyrus
The Beverly Hills Hotel is a Mobil five star and Triple A five diamond hotel. It is a world class place but not for everyone. I would prefer a larger bathroom, tourist-free and more personal touches that I find with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts Worldwide (I have no financial or personal interest in Four Seasons) but my name may not appear in the "list" yet everyone whom is paying the price is to be treated as a VIP and I need just as much care as the aging Burt Reynolds whom had only one drink there but wanted to feel famous.

The legendary Pink Palace opened in 1912, and the city of Beverly Hills literally grew around it. Today, the landmark Spanish Colonial building, painted a garish Pepto-Bismol pink, sits on 12 acres of landscaped grounds filled with palms, banana plants, azaleas, and bougainvillea. Discreetly dotted about are the bungalows where stars like Elizabeth Taylor have from time to time taken up...

The Pink Palace's historic dining room is lush with dark green and cream-striped walls, massive leather booths and a theatrical patio where diners eat among flowering vines, shocking-pink archways and a gorgeous knotted oak tree. Large, round tables of power brokers, lunching socialites and moneyed international playboys are the real view. With a place so full of glitz and glamour, the...

Before there was a city of Beverly Hills, there was the Beverly Hills Hotel. Since opening in 1912, this storied Pink Palace has changed hands more than a dozen times (once owned by the Sultan of Brunei) and shut down twice (first during the Depression, then in 1992 for a three-year renovation). Silent-film stars like Rudolph Valentino socialized here. Ludicrously wealthy magnates like Howard...

Fear and Loathing at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Fun and furious power spot to get one's scotch and/or tropical drink on with alliterative players like ladies lunching, Damon Dash, and Rick Rubin. Arm yourself with platinum card and Tommy suit, then start marking territory. Elevator killer Merv Griffin had his very own banquette, may he rest in peace. Skip food for cocktails and watching people...

Friends and I decided to lunch at the Polo Lounge having never been there and after hearing wonderful things about it. We were terribly mislead. After being sat in an outside location surrounded by dirty tables, we proceeded to wait thirty minutes before someone came to give us menus.
Everything looked as expected, until the dishes arrived. The fifty dollar plate of scallops was a composition...

This is one of those hotels that makes you wish you lived decades ago. Every aspect of this hotel is perfection! The decor, the staff, the beauty, is impeccable. Without a doubt, it is one of my favorite hotels in the world--a list that I can count on one hand, and absolutely should not be missed.
PS. They have a fabulous Sunday Jazz Brunch on the terrace.
