You can do better

Sterling 411 in Ann Arbor is great at appearing like a nice place to live, but not so great at following through with this. The noise in the apartments is oppressive. The architects went with an Oriental style, and made their walls out of paper. If you or your roommates make any noise, everyone will hear. Same goes for the upstairs neighbors, who I could literally hear using the bathroom from my bedroom. The air conditioning system is the loudest I have ever heard too. All around, sleeping is difficult at Sterling 411.
The building's management is also keen to extort as much money as they can from residents. For example, my roommate was charged $500 for checking out of his room 3 hours late. Be careful with them!

Management is incompetent. They promised all of my roommates and me that if we wanted a summer sublet that they would find us one. They assured us they have a great system and have never failed to successfully find a resident a subletter. Not only did we not find subletters, but they did absolutely nothing to help us. When the time came, the basically told us we were on our own. The internet in the building is always failing and while management spent the entire year claiming they were fixing the issue, the problem persisted frequently throughout the year. My bedroom did not even have a light in it and rent was over 950 dollars a month. Additionally for plastic key, they charge 50 dollars for a replacement.We tried to set up our apartment as it was featured in the floor plan and some of the rooms were not as big as they had claimed and it was actually impossible to arrange the furniture as it was featured in the floor plan because there simply was not enough space. Instead of responding to emails, the management ignores residents in the hope that the issue will evaporate over time and they won't have to actually deal with directly with the resident and his/her issues

Worst place to live

The management team is hopeless. They find ways to get money from you. The gym has been the same state since we moved in and no one fixed whatever broke. The management team recently sent out notice to set summer sublease administration fee to 350 (increased from 35) citing reasons: owners request and other do so. Avoid them just like you would avoid CapitalOne .

Sterling 411 Lofts could possible be the worst place to live in Ann Arbor. The management and office workers are incredibly rude and unhelpful. I don t think that I have ever met more heinous people in my life. They do not understand the basic fundamentals of a business in the fact that you are supposed to treat your clients well. Not only are the tenants not treated well, the apartment in general is terrible. Everything is very very cheap, the walls are so thin that you can hear everything that goes on in your apartment. Please for the sake of yourself NEVER sign a lease with Sterling 411 lofts. They will steal every possible penny. Do not be fooled by the management as they try to convince you to sign a lease, because after you do - they way they treat you is the complete opposite. You are nothing to them but a sack of money. Please Please do not live at 411 lofts - it will ruin your undergraduate / graduate experience and possibly be the worst year of your life. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

411 is the best place to live in Ann Arbor! The staff and management are great... maintenance is super quick and always fix the problem. It is a great location and a super nice place to live! They have fixed the internet issues. Safe environment and a quiet building too. LOVE it here.
