Business Description from the Web
Since it opened in 1925, The Fillmore Detroit was called The State Theater earlier. Like many downtown Detroit movie houses, it has gone through numerous incarnations, from legitimate theater to burlesque to art-house cinema. Adjacent to the Fox Theatre, it's now in the center of downtown's hot zone. As a dance club, with a dozen bars sprinkled throughout its ornate interior, a high-tech video...

Like its neighbor the Fox Theatre, the State is
an architectural masterpiece. The difference is,
it hasn't undergone the Ilitch-funded multi-
million dollar facelift. Medieval statues that
bookend the large stage are chipped and the wood-
and-carpet flooring is sticky from years of
abuse. Despite that, the theater is a stellar
place to see a concert, even if the acoustics are ...

Compared to the over-priced, over-hyped "Space" your best value for the club scene. Plenty of room to move and to DANCE. The drinks are priced accordingly like any bar does trying to keep the bills paid. (If you want cheap drinks STAY HOME!) The bouncers are, well, hmmmmmm? Bouncers! They cant help the fact they are big stupid animals. The place has character unlike Space who has a more money...

This bar had a great sound for live music. I went to see a band (spacecamp) and they sounded awesome. They had a great huge bar and enough room for everybody. The only thing that I didn't like is that is did not have air conditioning.
Pros
+ Good Parking, Great location
Cons
- No Air Conditioning
