Learn about the history of the Tampa Bay region, from the Tocobaga Indians to St. Pete's spring training history to America's first commercial airline, at the St. Petersburg Museum of History. Exhibits include those on American Indian primitive shell tools and thousands of baseballs signed by the likes of Babe Ruth. There's also a full-size replica of the Benoist Airboat flown by pioneer...

For a museum of history, there is little about St. Petersburg, a city that goes back to 1880. One small room has interesting artifacts and pictures, but there should be much more about this great city. Too much space taken up with diving and pirates, even mummies. One of the best exhibits is over 4800 signed baseballs, with much information...

* My 90 minutes was as much as I could take, but I did look at everything!
I been in a lot of museums and it is by no means the worst, but it could use some more thought...

This museum seemed to be a little sparse. They may have been transitioning between displays. Centrally located and admission is free, they do ask doe donations.

I was a little reluctant after reading some reviews of this museum that there might not be much to see here. I found this place very interesting and educational. There is a lot about the history of St. Petersburg and a lot of the culture here. All in all we found it a worthwhile experience.
