A Spanish watchtower, built in the late 1500's was the predecessor of the present St. Augustine Lighthouse. St. Augustine is the site of the oldest aid to navigation in North America. The original watchtower became Florida's first lighthouse in 1824.

Beautiful lighthouse. Love the history behind it. The lady they had working at the top of the lighthouse was very knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy telling the history and facts with you. This is a must stop in St. Augustine, even if you choose not to climb to the top!
