Ok, so maybe they don't serve my favorite Blue Bottle Hayes Valley espresso. But that doesn't take anything away from their superb coffee. I never order espresso from them, I always get brewed coffee and whole beans. And I must say their House Blend Fancy is one of the smoothest medium roast coffee I have ever tasted. And make sure you use syrup instead of sugar. And the price is simply superb...
The old-neighborhood coffee shop. Though the flashy gays like to hang out at the Starbucks, and the hipster gays end up at reveille, spikes is a welcome relic of the neighborhoods past, and serves good coffee and pastries for the regulars who hang out here.
