This eclectic music shop in the heart of Baltimore's historic Fells Point neighborhood, offers a great selection of new and used compact discs. You might not always find what you're looking for, but it's a good bet you'll leave with something. Sound Garden also scores points for its well-organized selection. You'll probably never have to ask for help in your search for a particular genre, but... more

A music store success story for everyone involved -- it began when Bryan Burket decided there was no good place to buy music in Baltimore. He and a few of his friends started up what has become one of the best record stores in the city. In fact, Bryan still works there every day, along with the resident Labradors -- Felix and Qiba. Same story, the dozen or so times I have been in. This place has a fatntastic selection of new and used music and movies. If I need to find it, from the obscure to the popular, from gifts for mom to new selections for the work drive,it's all there. Sound Garden is a great place to buy music and support the local shop owners. They offer previewing of the CD's, you can buy a new release in advance and receive a special gift, and you can find a great selection of used CD's (often newer releases.) Great location, and parking to make it easy to run in and out of the store. The staff is friendly and knowledgable.

Not too many places still sell vinyls and the Sound Garden in Fells Point has the best selection. I have found some rare gems here. They also buy back records or Cd's at reasonable prices, so it's not unusual to find a few college kids in line selling their wares on a Friday night for that night's beer money. It is also a good idea to stop by often since the inventory changes daily.
