Simeon's On The Commons

Old-Fashioned Restaurant and Bar

Review Rating
YellowBot Location
Simeons is a classic Ithaca restaurant. It's survived and changed over the years, but now is a comfortable restaurant with a great old-fashioned bar. Simeons is on the commons, so walking or parking is no problem at all.

Fantastic food and great portion sizes - not too big and not too small. The service was great. I have tried the salmon and filet mignon dishes there, and both were delicious.

Visited Simeons in early October on a fall vacation to the Finger Lakes region and they knocked my socks off. Great food, great ambience and a great wine list to compliment the meal. I wish these guys were in Chicago. Under new ownership, definitely worth a visit. Nice website too!

Pros

+ Location and ambience, good wait staff

Cons

- They could use a bigger kitchen, they seemed a bit tight

Awful food, awful service.

We were sat at a cramped table. Our waiter practically bullied us into "kettle chip fondue" -- basically a bag of chips dumped in a dish with nacho cheese sauce on top - $9.00. We also ordered "thai chicken nachos" which was six tostitos style chips with chicken and the same kind of cheese on the "fondue." No seasoning, no flair, way overpriced.
