I grew up in St. Louis were the benchmark for frozen custard has been held by Ted Drews for over 75 years. I was shocked to find the nearest frozen custard company to L.A. was in Irvine. SilkySmooth is a real gem hidden away in the Beverly Center, LA's best kept frozen dessert secret (think Pinkberry 2.0 in 2008...).
Silky has been my "secret addiction" for over a year now...their low-carb splenda-sweetened "SilkySlim" is my guilt-free weekday indulgence that is ok for my low-carb diet (in moderation of course). Their regular stuff is all low fat too, so I alternate on...

The ice cream is quite creamy for being such low in fat. The texture was reallly smooth. They say their ice cream is a combination of a frozen yogurt and regular ice cream. It is creamier than frozen yogurt and it doesn't melt as quickly. It is softer than regular ice cream and without the fat. My favorite is Vanilla.
