Shapiro's serves original, home-cooked recipes, mastered over generations. The corned beef alone has been hailed the best by food and restaurant critics across the country. Try it between two thick slabs of real rye, fresh from our bakery. Should we also mention popular favorites like stuffed cabbage, short ribs or stuffed peppers? In Short "Cook good; serve generously; price modestly; people will come" is the motto for Indianapolis' best deli. A city landmark since 1905, it's also one of its most accomplished bakeries. Pros

+ Good food

Cons

- not an attractive restaurant.

I am not a real fan of cafeteria style food so my review may be skewed. This was my first visit to Shapiros, I went with a group of coworkers for lunch. I felt that the sandwiches were over priced, although they were large. I was disappointed in my dessert - a huge piece of "peanut butter cake" that unfortuntely didn't taste like peanut butter at all. Not a bad place to eat, but for the $10 my... more
