When we bought our house 18 years ago, we furnished it with all major appliances from the Sears outlet. My washing machine lasted about 16 years. I'm still using the dryer, and it's running great. I bought 5 major appliances in February for a total cost of $3,500. Each one of the appliances needed service calls before they were even usable. Thank goodness I had purchased a maintenance agreement (at a tune of $800!) because they were definitely not in working order AT ALL when they were purchased, which should be illegal.
