I dont find the fish very fresh...remember fresh fish smells like the ocean not some dead rotting animal. Push on the flesh-it should bounces back. Look at the gills -they should be bright red, as the fish decomposes the gills get darker. the eyes should be bright abd clear-any cloudyness is decomposition.

When you walk into this place you can tell its definitely a fish market. The fish smell is a bit overwhelming, but hey, if you need some fish at reasonable prices this is the place to go. It is also one of the few asian markets I've been able to find in and around san diego. It isn't the cleanest, but it does carry those asian items I seek to buy from time to time.
If you can hang the word cheap to it, any noun will do for this place. Cheap smell? Got it--fishy to the core. Cheap produce? Got it as well, although the layout turns things into a constant bumping of bodies.
But the heart of this store is the cheap fish. It's Asian style--not for the squeamish. Pick your fish, have it cleaned for you, and take home a good deal.
