Samba Room is a Cuban bar and Latin café amidst palm trees, floor to ceiling sheer curtains, warm amber lighting, and the intoxicating rhythm of conga drums. Combining the finest South American traditions with Caribbean and New World flavors, the menu features fresh seafood, grilled meats, exotic fruits, and spices.
The Samba Room disappointed. My Hispanic friends found fault with
most of the traditional dishes. The ceviche was mixed with pineapple
and was somewhat liquidy (I didn't mind it) and the Tres Leches
dessert was much too sweet. All of the entrees had good and bad aspects.
The fish and risotto dishes were flavourful but 3 of 3 patrons proclaimed
"too watery". The atmosphere in the restaurant was...
The mojitos were fabulous and the patio a dream. The food was yummy. And now it is but a memory..... it is gone.
Expect snobby servers in NY or LA, not big hearted Houston.
Houston meets South Beach with good results
TRY The Mojitos!!!

Reminiscent of 1960s Rio de Janerio, this unique, upscale restaurant offers an array of Cuban, Brazilian, Peruvian, Argentinean, and Caribbean style dishes in their palm tree accented dining room and serpentine bar area. They are open nightly for dinner plus serve a wonderful brunch on Sunday.
The creamy three-cheese crab dip and spicy satay sampler are two solid starters. Chilled forks brought with lightly dressed salads are a nice touch. The Chilean sea bass has a perfectly cooked, crisp exterior and comes with the highly recommended manchego cheese mashed potatoes. Two tender, savory strips of the Argentinean-style skirt steak are served with sauteed onions, chimichurri and peppery, chili-dusted potatoes. The artistically presented pork tenderloin medallions are served on a piquant bed of red bell peppers.
